Bruce, surprise, has aroused the spirit which subsequently murders and mutilates him then possesses his body in order to use Bruce as an avenging zombie-like assassin. The Evil Dead - A.K.A. Book of the Dead (1982)

Movie Plot - A group of friends (Ash, Linda, Scotty, Shelly and Cheryl) go to a cabin in the Tennessee woods, where they find an unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. They find the Naturan Demanto -- the "Book of the Dead" -- and the Professor Knowby's taped translation of the text on a tape recorder. Once the tape is played, the evil is released. One by one, the teens become possessed into deadites. With only one remaining, Ash, it is up to him to survive the night and battle.

Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1988)

Movie Plot - Sequel to The Evil Dead where Ash does not manage to escape the evil from the first movie. Ash must now survive another night in the cabin accompanied now by the Professor's daughter, Annie Knowby, and find a way to dispel the evil for ever. The night turns into a non-stop, grotesquely comic battle with chainsaw and shotgun on one side, demon horde and flying eyeball on the other. Again, after the evil kill everyone, Ash, it is up to him to survive the night and battle!

Army of Darkness - A.K.A. Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness (1993)

Movie Plot - Ash finds himself stranded in the 13th Century with his car, his shotgun, and his chainsaw. Soon he is discovered and thought to be a spy for a rival kingdom and is taken prisoner. After proving his merit in The Pit, he decides to help the kingdom retrieve the Necronomicon ex Mortis (which will also help him return to his own time), which they need to battle the supernatural forces at play in the land. Ash accidentally releases the Army of Darkness when retrieving the book and a fight to the finish ensues. Finally, Ash returns back in his own time, at his job at S-Mart.

Evil Dead: Hail to the King - A.K.A. Evil Dead 4: Hail to the King (2000)

Game Plot - Eight years have passed and Ash is beginning to have nightmares and hallucinations of the deadites and the evil in the woods. Jenny, his new girlfriend, convinces him to go back to the old cabin in the woods, to face down his fears and prove to him that nothing's there. This may be Ash's worst decision yet: his possessed hand emerges from the shadows, switches on the old tape-player, and awakens the evil. Jenny is kidnapped, Ash's dark half breaks out of the mirror and now Ash has to find the missing pages to dispel the evil. The good news is that there's an axe hanging on the wall and the old chainsaw's waiting out in the workshed...

Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick - A.K.A. Evil Dead 5: A Fistful of Boomstick (2003)

Game Plot - Ash the chainsaw-handed hero will have to save the town of Dearborn from the influence of the infamous Necronomicon ex Mortis -- "The Book of the Dead." As with the film Army of Darkness, Ash will also do a little bit of the time travelling as he heads to different periods of time including colonial America and the era during the American Civil War, complete with some slight variations on the town of Dearborn. This newest addition promises to continue the saga of the Necronomicon and remain fully faithful to the films and previous games.
