Tragically the film was never taken out of the Renaissance Pictures car trunk till the end of summer and the heat destroyed the images. This made getting film jobs impossible and here I was in ILM land. I worked in an art department and as an Illustrator creating art for role playing games based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. So here I am back doing art.
In 1985 I got the word that Evil Dead 2 was going into production. Sam asked if I wanted to do the Make up effects. Nope, I wanted to do stop motion animation for the flying Deadite scenes and other bits and for the next ten months I did that and more. Evil Dead 2 opened to a new wave of fans and I wound up working on The Fly Part 2 at Chris Walas Productions. I started out sculpting designs of the new Fly creature along with a room full of CWI employees.
I was then asked to stay on and was lucky to sculpt with real Pros and make molds and learn a lot during preproduction. Film again. I was finding that the bigger film productions I worked on the fewer artistic contributions were required of me. I moved back to Michigan and swung back into illustration art. After working 10 years more of working for Chaosium Inc., creating art for their Lovecraftian role playing game "Call of Cthulhu".
I decided to go into business publishing my own Art and Replicas and eventually a range of other creative projects. Thus was born DARKAGEPRODUCTIONS. My old friend Pat Reese, who is a computer genius with a degree in Manufacturing Technology and I started the work of creating replicas of my Book of the Dead. The Replicas have been selling on eBay successfully for some time. Evil Dead is more popular now than ever and I've been invited as a guest to several Horror film Conventions. So Pat and I have been bringing my Tom Sullivan Movie Memorabilia Museum featuring my Props and Art and Photos from my Evil Dead experiences. Pat's now an Evil Dead Historian and fan friendly.
