Maltin Summary: (from Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide)
Mark Twain's Connecticut Yankee is crossed here with Bob Vila, as a hardware store employee is transported back (with his '73 Olds and a chainsaw) to King Arthur's 14th-century turf. Chiseled-grin Campbell's comic book features serve this movie well, as do a few witty bits and an army of skeletons obviously inspired by JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS. Doldrums set in when nifty special effects and verbal exchanges are out grabbing a smoke.

    ASH's Review:
Third in the Evil Dead series of films, this one with a lot more humour and a lot less gore. A winner no matter how you look at it. Again, I will state that the entire series is a must own.

    Film Trivia:
    • An issue of the magazine "Fangoria" can be seen in the car's trunk.
    • The magic words Ash must use to claim the Book of the Dead are "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto", the same words used to command the robot Gort in The Day the Earth Stood Still.
    • Director Sam Raimi shot two different endings. One ending has Ash battling a she-demon in a department store in the present. The alternative ending has Ash imbibing a secret potion that would make him sleep one century for each drop of the potion he drinks. He then goes to a cave to sleep. However, he drank one drop too many and wakes up to find a barren post-apocalyptic landscape. The final shot is Ash screaming in rage at a red sky. The Great Britain video version shows the "potion" ending, and the version shown in US theatres showed the "she-demon" ending.
    • Three skeletons do a classic three stooges routine (one of Sam Raimi's trademarks is to have a three stooges reference worked into his movies.)

    Film Gaffs:
    • When Ash falls from the sky, Plywood planking is visible on ground.
    • During the final battle a man in a T-shirt and modern shoes (Sam is that you?) charges in with Henry's army.
    • In the pit, the chain is moving at a different speed to the spikes.
    • White-gloved hand holding reigns of Ash's horse as he rides off near the end.
