Shooting/post-production notes:

• Pre-production began in April 1986
• During this time crew members stayed in the same house used by Steven Spielberg to film 'The Colour Purple'
• The reconstructed exterior of the cabin was only a short drive from this house
• The deadite that Henrietta transforms into was know as the 'Pee-Wee Head' because fo 'Large Marge's' transforamtion in the 1984 film Pee-Wees Big Adventure
• Watch out for Freddy Krugers glove hanging above the workshed door when Ash burst through the door with Lindas head
• Began May 10, 1986 at the DeLaurentiis Studios in Wilmington, NC
• Used an old abandoned school in Wilmington for the interior shots
• After shooting was finished Raimi moved back to Detroit for three months of post-production work
• Pick-up shots and minature work were filmed at Gary Jones' Acme Effects and Tom Hitchcock's Illuminations Effects
• Screenplay was subtitled 'A Scream Play'
• Both Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox passed on the screenplay
