Ash is back!
Finally some game designers with good taste in horror movies have decided to make a video game based on the Evil Dead Trilogy. Could this game be the answer to Evil Dead 4? The game is currently in development by a company called Heavy Iron Studios with Rennaisance Pictures. Heavy Iron Studios is the company responsible for the Playstation games such as Parasite Eve. The game will be published by THQ on the Sony Playstation 1 & 2, Sega Dreamcast and PC. Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert are said to be involved with overseeing the game, which will no doubt insure it's quality. The game is slated for a Holloween 2000 release!

Anyway back to game. Evil Dead: Hail to the King(formerly known as Ashes 2 Ashes) supposedly takes place eight years after Army of Darkness where once again Ash returns to cabin in the woods. Somehow the Necronomicon has resurfaced and has given the evil deadites access to the world of the living, and it's up to Ash to get rid of them and destroy the Book of the Dead once and for all. The plot for the game may spark some controversy among die-hard fans since Army of Darkness had two endings. Hopefully it will make sense since Sam Raimi himself is co-writing the story. Bruce Campbell will of course doing the voices of Ash.

The game will be a non-linear single player graphic action/adventure game similar to the Resident Evil series. Heavy Iron studios plans on using 24-bit 2D pre-rendered backgrounds straight from the movie along with 3D rendered characters and cutscenes. The game will mostly take place within the woods and the cabin. As in the films, Ash will be wielding his double barrel remmington shotgun along side his trusty chainsaw. As a added bonus, Ash will be able to upgrade to other weapons yet to be revealed. The game will include plenty of action and puzzels for Ash to overcome to get to the Necronomicon.

Game information from THQ:

Strap on your chainsaw, pop open your Necronomicon and come get some, baby! Ash, the square-jawed, insult-spewing, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed hero from the cult classic Evil Dead trilogy is back! Picking up eight years after the last installment of the Evil Dead films, Ash is drawn back to the infamous cabin in the woods only to again face evil forces that have crossed over to our world. Our hero finds himself slicing and dicing carnivorous Kandarian demons, vicious deadites and other unspeakable atrocities spawned by the notorious Book of the Dead. And in true Evil Dead fashion, Ash must once again attempt to save the world from an appalling and horrific end.

Evil Dead: Hail to the King takes the survival horror genre to new heights by combining the successful formula of suspense, action and puzzle-solving with over-the-top bloodlust and signature Ash humor - all within the confines of the Evil Dead universe. Hail to the king, baby!
