THQ Has Little Future With Dreamcast
In announcements in Europe, THQ made it frightfully clear of its Dreamcast future.
- At this morning's Global Video Games Conference in Paris, France, THQ reiterated its position and plans on the Sega Dreamcast system. And it wasn't pretty.

"The Sega Dreamcast will provide short-term opportunities, however the Dreamcast is not a strategic platform for THQ in the long term," said Brian Farrell, President and CEO of THQ. "We believe that once the PS2 is released, the Dreamcast revenues will trail off in both Europe and America very quickly and very significantly."

It seems quite definite from this newest statement that the company just doesn't have faith in the Dreamcast beyond a few high-profile blockbusters. Its remaining 2000 line-up includes MTV Sports Skateboarding, Evil Dead: Hail to the King, and WWF Royal Rumble. Hopefully at least these franchises will survive beyond the PS2 release, seeing as how THQ has the engines and American Dreamcast owner installed base to publish games of this caliber. THQ's plans beyond that, however, seem dim.
