The Games of December
Here's what you'll be buying (or getting at Christmas) and playing in the final month of the year.
- In December, the wave finally breaks. The year ends, the holiday season ends, and the torment inflicted upon game reviewers and the market at large ends, as the last of the games published in time for shoppers to grab them is released. And curiously enough, they're not even all of them that bad. Fans of RPGs that lie just slightly out of the mainstream have the retro Lunar 2 and the off-beat Persona 2. If racing's your thing, you can try Ducati and Ricky Carmichael for two wheels, Colin McRae for four, or SeaDoo for none at all.

Of course, there's always Evil Dead, which is worthwhile if only in that it reassures us that bad games do still exist.

First Week - December 1-8

Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots Arena
Darkstone
Ford Racing
Championship Surfer
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Goofy's Fun House
Evil Dead: Hail to the King
Warriors of Might and Magic
Colin McRae Rally 2.0
Ducati World Racing Challenge
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue

Second Week - December 11-15

Kasparov Chess
Razor Freestyle Scooter
Vanishing Point
Tom Clancy's Rogue Spear
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment

The Rest of the Month

Bugs Bunny and Taz: Time Busters
Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure
