ASH

Ashley (Ash) Williams is a mysterious character. Not much is known about his early life, although he did get a job working at a local S-Mart as a late teenager, a job he has kept throughout his life. His story truly begins when he and his girlfriend, Linda, decided to take a trip to a secluded cabin in the woods. While there, Ash turned on a tape recorder, which recited notes from the ancient Necronomicon and unleashed an army of powerful demons. Linda was possessed by the monsters and Ash was forced to kill her. Not long after, a group of people arrived at the cabin in search of its previous owners. Seeing the bloodied Ash, they assume he has murdered them.

Several fights ensue, which end in the death of all those who arrive at the cabin. The evil forces are pulled into a time warp, but Ash is also yanked into the vortex - and arrives in the year 1300. Although he is first thought of as an enemy, he quickly proves that he hates the evil undead as much as the noblemen of this era.

Anxious to get home, Ash said he would go on a quest for the Necronomicon. Along the way, he battled miniature versions of himself, unseen demons, Evil Ash, and hundreds of rotting zombies. Eventually, the man defeated the evil and united two warring kingdoms. As thanks, a village wiseman put Williams to sleep for 700 years - and he was able to wake up in his own time. It was eight years later that Ash again ventured into the dark woods, only to discover that the evil was still alive. After another battle with the evil forces, he again emerged bloodied, but victorious.
