"In a Voorhees was he born...Through a Voorhees may he be reborn..And only by the hands of a Voorhees will he die!"

Washed away from New York by the toxic waste, Jason, who was presumably dead, is now very much alive and back in Crystal Lake.

Following the disaster on the Lazarus, the FBI was called in to investigate the incident. Their investigations lead them to trace Jason back to Crystal Lake and set up a sting operation to kill him once and for all. Using a female agent as a decoy, they lure Jason out into an open field--and blow him up into a hundred pieces.

Nearby, bounty hunter Creighton Duke watches as they celebrate. But Duke is not so convinced that Jason is dead and goes on American Casefile, a national expose show, to tell the world the story. He said that he is the only one who knows the way to truly kill Jason and that a fee of $500,000 is his price. They offer it to him and he heads to Crystal Lake.

Meanwhile, in the Federal Morgue in Youngstown, Ohio, where they flew Jason's remains, a coroner is examining Jason's remains, when Jason's coarse black heart, blown out of his body, starts to beat on its own. Possessed and drawn to the heart, the coroner devours Jason's heart and becomes the living essence of evil. When his assistant comes in to check on him, the coroner kills him, before killing two of the FBI security guards outside and heading back towards Crystal Lake.

Back in Crystal Lake, local diner Joey B's is celebrating Jason's death by catering their menu to Jason-style items. Waitress Diana Kimble saw the report by Robert Campbell on American Casefile and seems haunted by it. She goes over to wait on Creighton Duke, and he accosts her, leading to Duke being arrested by Sheriff Landis. Diana, now realizing what Duke knows, goes to talk to Steven Freeman, who used to date her daughter Jessica. Steven and Jessica had a baby daughter together, but they since split up, with Steven trying to get back with her. Diana tells Steven that she has to tell him something about Jessica, and that he should come by her house that night if he truly wanted to make it right with Jessica.

In the meantime, the coroner shows up at camp and kills three party-going teenagers who wanted to enjoy themselves at Camp Crystal Lake since Jason was "dead". The coroner also abducts Officer Josh and kills his wife Edna. The coroner takes Josh back to the famed Voorhees mansion, where, realizing that his new body has gotten weak, transfers the soul of Jason into Josh.

Josh then stalks Diana and shows up at her house. Diana, clueless as to what is going on, doesn't know why Josh is attacking her until she looks in the mirror and sees Jason's reflection instead of Josh's. Steven shows up and Diana tries to tell him something, but Josh throws a knife in her back. Steven stabs Josh in the back with another knife and chases him away. He then runs back to Diana, who dies in his arms before she can tell him anything except "save Jessica".

In the meantime, Sheriff Landis shows up just as Diana dies, and he arrests Steven for her murder when Josh's body disappears. In the jail, Steven is being held in the cell, when he meets Creighton Duke, who, at the cost of a few broken fingers, tells Steven the Voorhees legend, the secret Diana was supposed to tell him earlier: "In a Voorhees was he born, Through a Voorhees may he be re-born, and only by the hands of a Voorhees will he die!" Diana Kimble is actually Diana Voorhees, and that means she was actually Jason's sister. Which meant, with her dead, Jason has only 2 blood relatives left in the world with the power to kill him or make him re-born: Jessica and her baby.

Steven steals Deputy Randy's gun and escapes from jail. He makes his way to the Voorhees house to find proff of Duke's prophecy. When he hears a noise, Steven hides in the closet, and he discovers something else in there with him--Diana's body. Robert Campbell, the host of American Casefile, manipulated Jessica to date him, just so he could get closer to the Voorhees story. Well, he was about to become part of the story, as Josh shows up and transfers Jason's soul into Robert. Josh then melts away to a bloody heap, and Robert leaves to go after Jessica, with Steven close behind.

Robert shows up first and cuts the power to the house as Jessica showers upstairs. She comes out and Robert tries to pass the soul into her, but Steven shows up and runs Robert over with the car. Jessica, not knowing the entire story, kicks Steven out of the car when he tries to explain it to her. Jessica then shows up at the police station to report Robert's murder--when Robert shows up, kills a few officers, and attacks her. Randy, who captured Steven and brought him in, is knocked out by Steven, who then fills Robert full of lead, allowing him and Jessica to escape. Robert soon revives, kills two more cops, and chases after Steven and Jessica. But this party got another member, as Creighton Duke busts his way out of jail--and into the story once again.

Steven and Jessica show up at Joey B's Diner, where they hid their baby, to try to get their baby and leave. But the ignorant Joey B. will have none of it, and a fight breaks out as Robert shows up. Steven and Jessica try to escape out the back, but they are attacked by Robert, who was "delayed" by killing the diner employees. After being shot and stabbed, Robert's body grows weak, and he collapses, just after killing Jessica's friend Vicki.

Jessica discovers that baby Stephanie is gone and there is a note: "I have your baby. Come to the Voorhees house...ALONE! Duke." So Jessica takes the truck and leaves Steven behind, who grabs a machete and starts to run after her.

Jessica shows up at the Voorhees house, when Duke gives her her baby and tells her that "it's not about the money anymore" and that "we can get that bastard and send him straight to hell". Jessica doesn't believe him until he tosses her a magic dagger, which becomes a gleaming weapon of destruction in her hand, nearly doubling in size.

Back at the diner, the police show up and examine the grisly scene, but not before one of them gets the soul of Jason transferred into them.

At the Voorhees house, someone pulls up and Duke tells Jessica to not trust anybody. He then collapses through a bad floorboard and falls to the basement, where he is caught on a wooden spike. Sheriff Landis and Deputy Randy show up, and Jessica is confused. Which one is Jason? Landis steps toward her, so she stabs him with the magic dagger. Wrong choice. Randy, now possessed, grabs baby Stephanie and attempts to pass the soul into her so Jason may be re-born. Steven jumps out of nowhere and nearly decapitates Randy with the machete, and they go to help Duke.

The hellbaby, the evil force behind Jason, emerges from Randy's body and goes to the basement, where it sees the body of Diana. It then enters her body.

Upstairs, Steven explains to them that Diana's body is down there, but it is too late. Jason, now re-born, comes crashing up through the floorboards and attacks them. Steven and Jessica try to get the dagger, which fell under a dresser. When Jason tries to get them, Duke handcuffs Jason so he can't reach them. Jason then turns to Duke and crushes his back with his bare hands.

With Duke dead, Steven lunges at Jason, and they go crashing outside. Out there, Steven takes a hell of a beating from Jason, who beats him within an inch of his life.

Could Jessica rise to the occasion and send Jason to hell for all eternity? Or would Jason kill them all and gain an eternal life?
