Summary: The thinking-person's sci-fi film

In addition to immortalizing the statement, "Gort, Klaatu barada nikto," this film is the grand-daddy of good sci-fi. It treats it's subject with dignity and realism. While the film has some good FX, it doesn't rely on the visuals and noises. Instead it focuses on characters and ideas. Klaatu is a nicely disguised Christ-figure in this allegory which makes you think at the same time that it is scaring you.
