Dave and the gang go through the BBoE (Big Book of Evil) at length, marveling at all the groovey stuff Dr. Waterman promises it can do. Being 1967, the kids desire no personal gain from it, only the strict and repressive conformity of clean-cut society.

When Dr. Waterman appears out of nowhere and takes the BBoE, Dave and Jim give chase. Poor Dr. Waterman stumbles and is killed when he strikes a rock. Now we're getting somewhere - SCANDAL! Dave pouts a bit, what with his mentor dead and all that, but Jim tells him that Dr. Waterman died literally seconds ago, and that Dave should start moving on with his life.

When Jim discovers the barrier opened by Dr. Waterman, he tosses a giant rock through it to show Dave. The quick thinking Dave shoves in an appendage, unafraid that it will be biten off. This phoney rock is actually an uncredited guest star. It pops up in several scenes, like the one where Vicky whaps Susan upside the head. I'm anxious to see if it ever turns up on e*bay.

Unreliable sources at templelooters.com have reported that this rock belonged to Ed Begley Jr. and that he kept it with him at all times, just in case Edward Connell gave him anymore shit.
