CS.com: Are you aware that
THE EVIL DEAD was banned in the UK for quite some
time?
SY:
I've heard all about the 'Video Nasties' *laughs* I
love that! I think it was probably a smart decision by
the Prime Minister. I think it's funny, but I guess it
just makes it more desirable.
CS.com:
They first released it in the early 80s when videos
were an unmediated format. Then when the whole 'Video
Nasties' panic emerged, there were 75 films that were
prosecuted for breaching the 'Obscene Publications Act',
and funnily enough THE EVIL DEAD was ranked highly on
that list.
SY:
I didn't realise that they actually
prosecuted!
CS.com:
Yeah, the video distributors were prosecuted. The
movie was first officially certified for release in 1997
in a cut version, then the uncut version came out a few
years later. We're used to it though over here, we had
to make do without The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw
Massacre and many others for about
15-years.
SY:
Like I said, makes them more desirable.
*laughs*
CS.com:
The latest THING at the moment is Horror movie
Action figures. Have you guys been approached with
regard to the 'Deadites' being made as
figures?
SY:
There's talk about it. There's serious talks going
on about possibly doing that.
CS.com:
Any company names to drop in there? McFarlane?
Neca?
SY:
*laughs* I wish I could drop names but we're
not anywhere near that stage yet. Anchor Bay is
orchestrating the whole thing. They're great, they've
really made this whole thing a real nice, quality piece
for collectors and have been very helpful in getting
things like this moving so we'll see what
happens.
CS.com: And finally, how's the tour
going for the 'Ladies Of The Evil
Dead'?
SY:
It's been great. I mean.... we have A LOT of fans!
*laughs* And we really didn't know that so many people
were interested in it. The best part for us is meeting
the fans and being together, because we all really like
each other, the three of us. We like Bruce too, he's
really fun to be around, and Rich who played Scotty.
We've had two or three reunions and have actually rein
acted the whole movie a couple of times, just done the
whole thing in like 10 minutes. It's fun, kind of wacky
and we're all seeing the world... this is my first time
in London so, it's enjoyable.
CS.com:
Theresa, it's been a pleasure and we sincerely hope
to see you back with Ellen and Betsy in
September.
SY:
I've had a great time and I hope to see you
guys again.
