The long overdue resource book for the Evil
Dead Trilogy is finally here. The book is written by film historian Bill
Warren and published by Titan Books in the UK, and St. Martins Press in
the US. The Companion goes behind the scenes of the Evil Dead trilogy
including a look at Within the Woods, the pilot for Evil Dead. The book is
filled with great anecdotes and goes in great detail on the events and
experiences of the people involved in the films. Also are included are
rare and never before seen pictures such as story boards and behind the
scenes pictures. The Companion seems to focus more on Evil Dead than the
Dead By Dawn and Army of Darkness, but also covers the same areas in Evil
Dead for the sequels. The end of the book features an outline of the
events with Bruce commenting on the scenes and special special effects and
why certain scenes were deleted.
Deadites Online (under our old
name Ash's Evil Dead Page) is mentioned few times within the book
referencing Cliff Holverson's interview with special effects artist and
animator Tom Sullivan (pages 31,59). Our old link is also found in the
link section at the end of the book. Groovy huh? So if you're a hardcore
Evil Dead fan or just someone who is interested in the Evil Dead films
definitely go out and get this book!
