THE EVIL DEAD, the ultimate experience in grueling horror,
was filmed in Morristown, Tennesee; and in Detroit, USA.

Where's Morristown, Tennesee?

"The Most Ferociously Original Horror Film Of The Year"
--- Stephen King

"In the summer of 1979, Sam, Robert, and I, collected approximately $375,000 from investors in the Detroit area and made our first feature film: "The Evil Dead." I starred as Ash, a witless college student besieged by demons in a quaint cabin nestled in the Tennessee woods. "The Evil Dead" was highly successful both critically and financially and officially launched our professional careers..." --- Bruce Campbell

The story begins with a group of young adults bound for a cabin "right up in the mountains".
I must admit, at this point in the movie the first time viewer may be chalking up another dud rental.
The veteran viewer will of course be freeze framing the "Wave to The Fishermen Scene", trying to
catch a glimpse of Sam and Ivan Raimi (we're so simple).

Once the '76 Olds makes it across the delapidated bridge & turns down the winding drive towards The Cabin all sound cuts out; the car creeping along the twisting drive in silence. The haunting thud of the porch swing against the cabin wall fades in, swelling to a thunderous beat. The car stops near The Cabin and the group (as well as the viewer) stares gape jawed. The dud theory, mentioned above; is no longer a concern at this point. This may be a good time to turn on a few more lights & check over your shoulder often, you're in for a lesson in pure horror.
