Because of the difference in the nature of the sequel to its predecessors the level of deleted scenes was significantly less but that didn't stop certain sequences being trimmed for subsequent theatrical and video releases. See below for a list of running times and certificates given in certain countries for EVIL DEAD 2.

The One SIngle Cut!
In the UK the film suffered only one cut, for its video release, which reduced the film by 1 second. This was a close-up of a kick to Ash's head when he's lying unconscious on the cabin floor. A spokesman for the BBFC had this to say about the cut in a recent email, "at the time it was originally viewed (1986) horror standards were fairly strict and the original EVIL DEAD was still a pretty notorious - and unclassified - film. Therefore a perhaps over-cautious cut was made to remove what was felt to be the most impactful - and realistic - element of violence in an otherwise fantastical (and humorous) film."

The Scene was restored for the recent cable TV and network screenings of the film in the UK. The cable channels ' Bravo' and 'Sci-fi' along with terrestrial network channel '4' broadcast the film with this scene but not with the two cuts below. This was mentioned by Bruce Campbell in the Laserdisc/DVD audio commentary for the movie.

n America the film was firstly given an X-rating. The films main investor and producer Dino De Laurentiis refused to release an 'X' or unrated film through his own DEG Corporation. So to escape the board of certifiers on this occasion a dummy releasing compnay was made called 'Rosebud' in honour of Orson Welles' 'Citizen Kane'. The company intro seen at teh beginning of the film was filmed by Raimi using time lapse photography. An interesting point is that the buzzing fly sound heard is teh exact same sound effect used at the beginnin of 'Evil Dead'.

The film was released in selected markets in 1987 but failed to make an impact. It has since been reborn in various uncut DVD and video releases.
